People don't seem to understand this, but if you book a show and pay an artist thousands of dollars to perform for your show, it's best to have a contract signed beforehand that clearly states how long they are to perform and the amount they will be paid.  It's also never a good idea to pay entirely up front.  Half up front, and half when the job is done.

Doing this type of thing without a contract will guarantee financial ruin.
